I am a native of Atlanta, GA. I received my B.A. with ACS certification from Agnes Scott College in GA. While I was a student there I participated in varsity basketball and cross country. I also had a terrific opportunity to do undergraduate research with my inorganic professor which helped me realize my love for inorganic chemistry and lead me to attend graduate school. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA in Organometallic research. I specifically research novel Ru(II) complexes for catalytic olefin hydroarylation (the conversion of benzene to ethylbenzene). After the completion of my Ph.D. I moved to Philadelphia, PA and taught a year at Haverford College. After a year in Philadelphia (which had one of the snowest years in the history of Philly) I realized I didn’t like the cold and started to make my way back south. I moved to Baltimore, MD where I did a teaching and research postdoc at The Johns Hopkins University in metallophorphyrin chemistry.
I am a HUGE Virginia sports fan (GO HOOs!) and love to do sports and outdoor activities myself. I love to travel and explore national parks and historic sites. I am also close to my family and friends and enjoy hanging out with them.
